Extraterritorial

Exraterritoriality is a fun permutation on something that has existed for a long time: Eminent Domain. Wondering why the corporate council gets to make all those rules? Well it is because some genius, namely the United States Supreme court, decided that in order to ensure that corporations could protect their property and holdings that they needed their own land. So A government would use Eminent Domain to seize land, and then cede it to a corporation. The corporation then becomes its own sovereign state effectively, similar to some old reservations. Funny thing about that because Native American reservations are where most of the land for corporations in the US came from. Funny old world, eh? It is a great deal, the corporation gets near carte blanche to do what they have to, and the government sells some land and gets to reap the benefits of this marvelous new economic model. Sure it has a few downsides, like disenfranchising millions and creating vast swaths of areas without any law, but if they wanted stability maybe they should have helped contribute to the bottom line. So the long short of it is, on corp land you obey corp law, you get corporation citizenship if your a wage slave, and if you toe the line then everything is just peachy until the new product sells 2% below expectations, have fun with your downgrade.
